potatoes
Kosher for Passover
Kosher.Potatoes are kosher by themselves, but during Passover, the concern is with the preparation and potential cross-contamination with chametz (leavened products). If potatoes are prepared in a way that ensures no contact with chametz, they can be kosher for Passover. However, many Ashkenazi communities also avoid potatoes due to the custom of not eating kitniyot (legumes and some other foods), though this is not universally observed among all Jewish communities.
What is Kosher for Passover?
Foods that are kosher for Passover are foods that do not contain chametz or chametz residues.
What is Chametz?
Chametz is any food containing one of the five grains (wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt) that has leavened.
